Free Pet Food Pantry! -- Sunday March 26th, 2023

Pet Food Pantry

On the last Sunday of each month, Stover Animal Rescue organizes a free Pet Food Pantry. You are welcome to drop by from 11 am to 1 pm at 709 West 4th Street, Stover Missouri 65078.  Please note: Free food is limited to what we have available that day and will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Thank you Donors

Many thanks to our pet food donors that help you keep your pets at home with you:

Stover Animal Rescue - Outreach

The Pet Food Pantry is one of the Outreach Services Stover Animal Rescue offers to the local community as we have available funding. We also provide TNR (trap/neuter/return) of community feral and stray cats. Furthermore, we offer pet supplies, referrals to trainers, and assistance with essential medical expenses (including spay/neuter and vaccines) for community families to enable them to keep their pets during times of crisis, to help with difficult pet behaviors, or to meet medical needs.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at our Pet Food Pantry!

Be A Good Dog

Stover Animal Rescue welcomes to its Board of Directors Trina Grubaugh, certified dog trainer and founder of "Be A Good Dog University". Volunteer Spotlight: Mignon & Carolyn -- Wednesday June 30th, 2021

You might have heard Mignon (left) on the local radio updating you about the inventory of our Thrift Store, or perhaps you recognize her from the check-out. She and Carolyn (right) volunteer at the Stover Animal Rescue Thrift Store from Thursday to Saturday. They are very grateful for your donations and they work hard to make all items look presentable. Mignon: “Stan, Jay, Wendy, and James, from a Sheltered Workshop, help out as well. They are excellent workers. However, we can always use extra hands, especially on Saturday. There’s always something to do!”

Volunteer Spotlight: Sensenig Family -- Friday November 27th, 2020

The Sensenigs are some of our very own most valuable players! Mother Erin, a full-time domestic engineer, provides care for dogs and cats at Stover Animal Rescue (SAR) with her two daughters Makayla and Kiara. These two girls foster young kittens until they are ready to be adopted into a permanent loving home. Larry, the father of the family, has worked in construction for many years and recently helped us together with his family in repairing and improving our building and kennels.

Adoption Case: Max & Mojo

Stover Animal Rescue is a small, rural non-profit No-Kill animal rescue in Stover, Missouri. We rely completely on volunteers to run our daily operations, but our adopters are just as important. They offer abandoned and abused animals a well-deserved new home. Without adopters, our shelter would simply not exist. Meet adopter Kerry Clark, who recently took in dogs Mojo and Max. How did Kerry experience the adoption process?

Meet our special foster Carolyn Slater -- Thursday October 15th, 2020

Carolyn Slater does a great job of fostering for Stover Animal Rescue!

Carolyn has cared for animals all her life. She and her husband farmed at their home outside Lincoln and Cole Camp; where she now cares for their remaining pets – a 30 year old and frisky pony named Scooter; his horse companion, Jack; three old chickens, Lassie (the rooster), and his ladies, Vivian and Louise; and four rescued dogs – a miniature Australian shepherd mix (Ben), a beagle mix (Rosie), a small terrier mix (Bruno), and a chihuahua/rat terrier mix (Bud).

After having worked in a thrift shop in Lincoln for some time, Carolyn came to work at the Stover Animal Rescue Thrift Store in June 2019 as a volunteer to help the animals at our rescue. In November she began volunteer fostering for us as well, and is now fostering her seventh and eighth dog, Toby and Max, two Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix brothers. They are sweet and very active little guys; and already have adopters waiting for them.
Fosters are quite literally the life blood of any rescue; and ours is no different. There are always those special needs rescues that just need the extra attention and care only a foster home can provide. We assist with whatever you might need to be a successful foster home and would love to welcome you to our local foster home group!
