Sassy got to know us first as a part of our outreach trap/neuter/return (TNR) program in 2019 when she was spayed and ear-tipped. Later in the year she injured her leg and developed abdominal pains. The vet initially determined her leg might need to be amputated; and she needed surgery for stones and crystals in her bladder and kidneys. Her owner could not afford the treatments, and Sassy was to be euthanized – but SAR and other friends (including Caring Hearts and C.A.R.E. rescues, as well as other special donors) stepped up to save her life. Her surgeries went well; and they were able to save her leg, but she may always walk with a little limp. Sassy is in a safe and loving foster home at the moment, but is really looking forward to finding her forever home. She is loving and bright and energetic and fully house-trained; and her adoption fee has been sponsored! Although she is fully recovered now and back on a normal diet, she may need a special kidney diet at times in the future. She says, “I believe there’s a reason I’m still alive, and maybe you are my reason. If you have room in your heart and home, I’d love my ‘happily ever after’ to be with you.”
